Official Opening of Expanded Chemotherapy Unit at LACGH

On March 11, 2021, the Lennox and Addington County General Hospital celebrated the official opening of the expanded chemotherapy unit. Former patient, Jacquie Rowe, was on hand to take part in the celebratory ribbon cutting ceremony, along with Board Chair, Allan MacGregor and front line staff in the department. The chemotherapy unit has grown from five chairs to nine with a separate, new chemo pharmacy also having been built as part of the expansion.

As a former patient, Ms. Rowe says having to “not travel all the way to Kingston is key for chemo patients just because the last thing you want to do is sit in a vehicle for 40 minutes after chemo. To be able to have a chemo centre this close is key for undergoing treatment.”

Prior to the expansion, anyone from Napanee who needed chemotherapy had to hope there was space available at LACGH, otherwise they had to make a trip to Kingston.
