LACGH Diabetes Education Program Recognized for Excellence

(June, 2016)
The Lennox & Addington County General Hospital Diabetes Education Program has been recognized by the Standards Recognition Review Committee of the Canadian Diabetes Association as successfully meeting all of the Standards for Diabetes Education in Canada.  The review committee commended the LACGH education team for its efforts and achievements in providing superior diabetes education to their patients and their community.

To attain Recognition status, a Diabetes Education Centre must complete an external review through a self evaluation process demonstrating achievement of a minimum of 80% of the standards within each of the Outcome, Process and Structure categories.  The LACGH centre has achieved the highest possible score of 100% of the standards in each category.

The 10.6% rate of diabetes in our catchment area is noted to be higher than the national average and the age of the population served is greater than 45.  These statistics provide a very compelling reason as to why the centre is such a valuable asset in this community.

The review team commented "As a centre of excellence, the Lennox and Addington County General Hospital Diabetes Education Program will serve as a role model and will seek every opportunity to continue to improve and advance services to meet the needs of the community."

LACGH Finishes FIRST PLACE in the 2014 Inter-Hospital Health Challenge - We are the Champions

(May 2014)
The Lennox and Addington County General Hospital participated in the Every Day in May Challenge with great success.  We were the only small hospital competing against other hospitals across Ontario and we are extremely proud to achieve a FIRST PLACE finish for the second consecutive year.

Hospital staff competed in the challenge to see who could collect the most points by eating fruits and veggies, drinking fluids, being active and participating in relaxation and wellness activities.  Members of the Wellness Committee organized lots of fun activities during the month to get staff moving and keep them motivated.

Staff are looking forward to defending our title in next years challenge.

LACGH Receives Accreditation with Exemplary Standing.

(June 2013)
Staff at LACGH patiently awaited the results of the Accreditation Canada review in June 2013.  It was well worth the wait.  The hospital was granted Accreditation with Exemplary Standing.  This is the highest award that an organization can receive from Accreditation Canada.  It means our hospital attained the highest level of performance, achieving excellence in meeting the requirement of the accreditation program.  We met an impressive 99.3% of the standards.

Participation in the accreditation program enables us to demonstrate our commitment to ongoing improvement.  This decision reflects the extraordinary work that all staff, physicians and volunteers provide each and every day at LACGH while caring for patients and their families.

The Accreditation surveyors reported "This is a true community hospital, community members take great pride in their hospital and this perception is clearly evident in the staff members and physicians as well.  Everyone pulls together to get the job done.  There is a good feel and a sense of optimism in the organization."
