Role of the Hospital:
The Lennox and Addington County General Hospital provides a range of healthcare to almost 30,000 residents of Lennox and Addington and portions of Hastings County and North Frontenac.
History:
The L&A County General Hospital (LACGH) opened in 1966. The Hospital is owned by the Lennox & Addington County General Hospital Association, a not-for-profit corporation chartered in 1959. The responsibility for operating the facility rests with a volunteer Board of Governors elected from the community as provided for in the hospital bylaws.

Present and Future:
The hospital has recently undergone a major redevelopment which involved almost every area in the hospital. The project included construction of a new 24 bed complex continuing care unit, the expansion of the Emergency Department, the creation of a new outpatient clinic, the construction of two new operating rooms and a same day surgery area, relocation of pharmacy and physiotherapy and renovation of the inpatient unit, in addition to many other support areas.
