Canadian Association of Radiologist’s Mammography Accreditation Program (CARMAP)
LACGH Diagnostic Imaging’s Mammography Department is happy to share that the CARMAP Accreditation review was a success and the Department is accredited for another year.
The CARMAP program was first instituted in Ontario over 20 years ago to ensure that the quality of mammography images meets the highest standards for patients. This voluntary program assesses a facility based on four areas of quality:
Personnel Requirements: The right people to conduct a quality examination and oversee the rendering of optimal diagnostic images.
Quality Control: The appropriate tests are completed through the implementation of a quality assurance program and monitored QC to ensure the acquisition and presentation of optimal quality medical images.
Equipment Specifications: The right equipment operating in the manner it was intended.
Breast Image Quality: A Systematic Image Assessment by a qualified reviewer, ensuring the facility regularly evaluates the quality of its diagnostic images and the associated radiation doses.
LACGH Receives Accreditation with Exemplary Standing.
Staff patiently awaited the results of the Accreditation Canada review in June 2017. It was well worth the wait. The hospital was granted Accreditation with Exemplary Standing. This is the highest award that an organization can receive from Accreditation Canada. It means our hospital attained the highest level of performance, achieving excellence in meeting the requirement of the accreditation program. We met an impressive 99.7% of the standards.
Participation in the accreditation program enables us to demonstrate our commitment to ongoing improvement. This decision reflects the extraordinary work that all staff, physicians and volunteers provide each and every day at LACGH while caring for patients and their families.
The Accreditation surveyors reported “It is evident that staff live the corporate values of teamwork, respect and communication through their positive patient satisfaction survey results.” “There is an eagerness within the Lennox & Addington team, to learn and continually improve.”
Ontario Laboratory Accreditation
Laboratory staff demonstrated their commitment to quality once again during the Ontario Laboratory Accreditation (OLA) Peer Assessment in January 2017. Ontario Laboratory Accreditation is mandatory for all licensed laboratories across the province to ensure laboratories are delivering high quality services that meet the needs of the community. The lab scored an exemplary standing on the assessment receiving kudos from other regional laboratories on their success. During the summation meeting the surveyors remarked on the team work and dedication to quality demonstrated by staff during the visit.
